Observations from the Zoo

Monday, August 08, 2005

So, I'm ready to leave Strasbourg, but I don't get to until tomorrow morning. What to do with myself between now and then? No clue.

The Modern Art Museum was closed to day. Apparently it's one of the best in the world. How could I forget that no museums are opened in Europe on Monday?

Also, I'm tired of the rain. I'm tired of not knowing French. I'm tired of German tourists approaching me in broken French and begging for directions. I'm tired of the occasional French tourist approaching me and begging in fluent French for directions. I'm tired of important public buildings only being open by appointment. I'm tired of the incessent rain and cold. It's August for pete's sake! AND I am very tired of French men approaching me and asking for a light. *sigh*

Tomorrow I'm going to The Netherlands! Yay!

I have this theory that the Dutch are like the Californians of Europe. Only since it's of Europe they are even more so. I mean, they were the first country to legalize weed and gay marriage.

I'm sorry you're tired, of everything.

    So uh, stop it.

I did. I'm in the netherlands now. Equally cold, but thus far less wet. AND no broken or fluent french. ;)

I should think it does, and yet there are doubters. The guy at the hostel feigned surprise when I said where I was from he replied, "You don't look American! What's happened to you?" I really don't know how to take that. I decided to think that's what he says to all of the cute American girls.
